Making a Dent: Inspiring The Next Generation of Cybersecurity Innovators

I am privileged to work with some amazing people. I see people develop to their full potential, and watch as research and ideas turn into impact. A core part of any university is to understand the core issues there are, and put in-place research which addresses these.

Almost every day I come across people with passion, commitment and drive to address fundamental issues around cybersecurity, and who really want to disrupt our existing ways and thinking. But where are our next great cyber security companies going to come from? Where are the big ideas? Where are the great collaborations? Where will they find funding? What are the big problems we should be solving?

Well one of the best ways to find out, is from those who taken ideas and built internationally leading cybersecurity companies. Along the way they will have faced many of challenges that new companies will face, and will know ways to address them. And so, two people have had great success in Scotland in building cyber security companies … Dr Jamie Graves and Federico Charosky … will tell a ‘warts and all’ story of their journey, and aim to inspire the next generation of amazing innovators:

The conference run on 15 January 2018 in Edinburgh, but will also be hosted in other cities around Scotland. Apart from showcasing great innovation in cybersecurity, acore part of the conference is also to identity opportunities for SMEs and universities to create the next great start-up/spin-out companies in cybersecurity.

We will also launch the SICSA NEXUS Innovation Voucher scheme, and where researchers and innovators can bid for funding for their innovation.
