Using “The Cloud” For Education

We have information at our finger tips. The data contained within “The Cloud” is more that all of the information gained over the history of humankind. But do we use it to stimulate and challenge? The answer, sadly, is “No”. Often we stick to our old static ways of creating tests and challenges.

So what if the machine — “The Cloud” could generate ever-changing and stimulating challenges, and that pushed us to learn (but in a fun way). It could be something trivial like learning state capitals, but it could also ask stimulating questions which tested the higher levels of learning.

And so we have developed a method to crawl the Internet, with a task to find answers for a give focus, such as: “What is the capacity of English football stadiums?” [here]:

or “What are the terms of the US presidents” [here]:

or get the songs and artists for the songs of the 1970s [here]:

Once we gain the question/answers from the Cloud we can then just populate questions randomly and fill in incorrect answers from the list of correct answers. After this we just skin the interface to whatever way we want to present it [here]:

So here’s a few I’ve crawled…

Conclusions

Over the Summer we are really going to ramp things up and will be applying machine learning into different levels of learning, and then using “The Cloud” to capture the data we need. If we can get this to work, we will have an ever-changing education environment.
