If you’re a scammer … don’t call a Security Prof (on a Saturday morning)!

Don’t you just love being woken up early on a Saturday morning, and it’s a scammer on the line?

Well, it happened to me, so I reached out for my audio recorder.

I get so many of these, and I normally get them to explain all the details of my computer, and they even tell me I’m running Microsoft Windows. Unfortunately, today, I only managed to keep them engaged for seven minutes, so here is what they said to me:

These scammers are preying on vulnerable people and want to get you to subscribe to a service which does nothing but make them make lots of money.

So please tell those who might be vulnerable that they should watch when someone calls and says they have a virus, as they will then ask for money to stop it from happening. They will take guesses at things you have, and make it look like they have managed to view things on your computer. Don’t ever install the software they send you, especially when it installs a remote access method onto your machine.
